Runaways Run Club meets at different locations on Wednesdays at 6:00PM, all year. Each run varies in distance between 3-4.5 miles and will start & finish at the same spot. All paces are welcome on the run!

Covid cases are surging among the vaccinated and the unvaccinated. It’s not how sick vaccinated people aren’t getting, it’s that when someone tests positive, the ripple effects in the community can be seismic. So we are switching things up. Winter Wednesday group runs will meet at outdoor parks and venues, to discourage indoor congregate gathering. I’m hopeful this will allow us to maintain community and connection, and a semblance of routine and normalcy over the winter months. Mental and physical health are huge priorities even in these circumstances, and community support is crucial as we head into cold weather when motivation is hard to find.

Covid protocols: vaccinations required to run with Runaways; we ask that you wear a mask when not running; if you aren't feeling 100% well stay home. Attendance at a group run is inherently risky.

Firebird Trail Races 2022

Firebird Trail Races 2022

Sep 3, 7:30am - Sep 3, 4:00pm

Cumberland Fair197 Blanchard RdCumberland Center, ME04021 Map

Firebird Trail Race is a challenging and wicked fun 13M & 50K race, that runs on donations, positive vibes, and a technical course in Cumberland, Maine.

Our goal with this race is to celebrate community and accomplish great feats together, cheering each other to the finish, for the first time or the millionth time.

Unlike other races, to compete here you must donate to a non-profit of your choice in addition to paying the low cost registration fee. Instead of some mega race conglomerate taking the profits, we ask that you pay it forward and contribute to a non-profit that aligns with your values. The donation must be made between September 18, 2021 and September 2, 2022, and we must have proof of the donation (a receipt, confirmation letter from the recipient, image of your check) by September 2, 2022 in order to confirm entry. We would appreciate donations of at least $40, with a $20 minimum requirement.

Start Times
- 50K - 7:30 AM
- 13 Miler - 8:00 AM

It's technical and challenging, with lots of rocks and roots on mostly single track trail. The course is largely on the Cross-Falmouth Trail through Knights Pond, Rines Forest, Hadlock Forest, Blackstrap Hill Preserve, and Lowell Preserve. *The 2022 course will vary slightly from 2021, with a new starting area at the Cumberland County Fairgrounds*.

- 13M Course: Starts at the Cumberland County Fairgrounds in Cumberland and runs through Knights Pond Preserve then through Rines Forest and back to the Fairgrounds.

- 50K Course: Starts at the Cumberland County Fairgrounds in Cumberland and runs through Knights Pond Preserve then through Rines Forest, Hadlock Forest, Blackstrap Hill Preserve, and Lowell Preserve then doubles back to the Fairgrounds.

Each participant will receive a wood carved Firebird pinion medal and tech shirt. Top male and females will in each race will receive top finisher awards, a six pack of Athletic Brewing beer, and a free pair of Altra running shoes!
